27 new Covid deaths and where they happened in a Lancashire hospital
An additional 27 people died in a Lancashire hospital after being infected with the coronavirus.
Deaths have been recorded in five different NHS hospital trusts throughout the county over the last 24 hours and were published by the NHS today (December 5).
Hospital deaths in the area increased from 1,899 yesterday to 1926.
NHS England’s daily figures may include previously uncounted deaths that occurred days or weeks ago.
The Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded six new deaths. Two died on December 3, one on December 2, two on December 1, and one on November 30.
The East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded seven new deaths. One died on December 4, four on December 3, one on November 18, and one on November 16.
Six people have died in the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Four died on December 3, one died on December 2, and one died on November 12.
Two more people died at the Southport and Ohmskik Hospital NHS Trust, one on December 3rd and the other on December 2nd.
Six more deaths were recorded at the University Hospital of the Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. Four were December 4th and two were December 3rd.

- Blackpool Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: 451 dead
- East Lancashire Hospital NHS Trust: 497 people died
- Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: 407 dead
- Southport and Ohmskik Hospital NHS Trust: 248 people died
- Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust University Hospital: 323 dead
An additional 315 people died of Covid-19 in a British hospital.
Of these, 55 deaths were recorded in northwest England.
