The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported 1,239 new cases of COVID-19 infection confirmed on Friday and 110 new deaths. Currently, there are 83,421 confirmed cases across the state, with 5,592 deaths.
The state reported that 11,318 new tests were conducted on Friday and 435,679 tests were conducted overall.
Overall, 3% of the current Massachusetts cases require hospitalization, and 749 people with the virus are in the intensive care unit.
The state reports 738 confirmed cases and 67 deaths in Hampshire County, 304 cases and 43 deaths in Franklin County, 5,038 cases and 494 deaths in Hampden County. In confirmed cases, the average age of death is 82, the average age of hospitalization is 68, and the average age of infected is 53.
Community hospital
Cooley Dickinson Hospital is treating 10 hospitalized patients with confirmed COVID-19 infections as of Friday, three of whom are in the intensive care unit.
An additional 82 outpatients are under investigation for COVID-19 infection. A total of 643 people tested positive in the hospital.
Baystate Health treats 83 hospitalized patients with confirmed COVID-19 infections in all hospitals, including 14 in the emergency room. Eighty people are admitted to the Bay State Medical Center in Springfield.
Nineteen hospitalized patients are under investigation for COVID-19 infection.
Baystate has tested 9,951 people so far, returning 1,491 positive results, 8,254 negative results, and 206 pending results.
