Coldwater tennis closes 2021 with a 6th place at the Regionals

CHELSEA, MI. The Coldwater Cardinal Boys Tennis team made the long journey to Chelsea High School on Wednesday to participate in the MHSAA Division Three Tennis Regional tournament.

Coldwater finished sixth in a very difficult region, a region won by the fifth-ranked team in the state in Chelsea. With their regional title, the Bulldogs now advance to the MHSAA State Finals and are joined by the Parma Western Panthers who finished second in the regional event.

The Cardinals advanced two of their flights to the semifinals of their respective series to lead the day’s effort.

Playing number one in singles, Coldwater senior Kyle Sheppard advanced to the semi-finals of his series before falling for the highly regarded Chelsea player. Sheppard completes a stellar four-year career with Coldwater with a record 14-7 and First Team Interstate 8 All Conference honors for the second year in a row.
