Announcing Tori Amos’ graphic novel on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of Small Earthquakes

Nearly 30 years ago, Tori Amos’ Little Earthquakes exploded onto the music scene and made them a household name to millions of music fans. Now, Amos is teaming up with Z2 Comics to celebrate that anniversary by releasing a graphic album and vinyl release for the record. This isn’t Amos’ first outing as a collaborator on comics; Z2 actually described it as “the long-awaited spiritual sequel to Tori Eisner and Harvey’s first award-winning graphic novel, Comic Book Tattoo, which was released in 2008 by Image Comics and featured the writing and art of dozens of creators over 50 short stories.”

Released in 1992, Little Earthquakes was Amos’s debut album, and has made her an iconic sound in music that will continue to inspire generations of artists and musicians. The Little Earthquakes graphic album will include 24 stories based on the 12 songs on the album, as well as the 12 “B-sides” that accompanied the album and associated singles. Rantz Hosley, who previously edited the Comic Book Tattoo, will edit the book.

Since the release of Little Earthquakes, Amos has sold over 12 million albums across 16 issues, with its latest effort, Ocean to Ocean, released in October 2021.

This graphic novel edition shows the breadth of influence of Amos’ work through 24 stories inspired by the album and accompanying B-sides. The book’s contributors are a star-studded cast of literary and artistic talent, including Torey’s longtime friend Neil Gaiman (The Sandman, American Gods) tells a story inspired by “Tear In Your Hand” with artist Bilquis Evely (The Dreaming) and legendary composer Margaret Atwood (The Handmaid’s Tale) who will revive the popular song “Silent All” these years with famous artist David Mack (Kabuki), who painted Also the stunning cover. Little Earthquakes: The graphic album will be available in three versions. The standard 8″ x 8″ hardcover edition will be released in bookstores, comic and record stores everywhere in September 2022, and will be available for pre-order through Z2 and ToriAmos.com. The Deluxe and Platinum Artists Limited Editions will be available exclusively through the Z2 website and in limited quantities.

The 12″ x 12″ Deluxe Edition will be limited to 1,450 units, which will be packaged in a college bag, with vinyl editions of Little Earthquakes and previously unavailable vinyl discs from Little Earthquakes: The B Sides, plus 12″ x12″ art prints for Comic contributors Book Tattoo, Jason Levesque, Kaku, and David Mack.

The Platinum Artists Edition is limited to 500 copies and includes a signed and numbered 12″ x 12″ graphic novel with embossed hardcover, a Little Earthquix vinyl album and exclusive B-Sides vinyl discs, prints by Jason Levesque and Kaku, and a signed hardcover edition by David Mack and Tori Amos, A sketchbook/diary, housed in a die-cut clamshell collector’s box, echoes the wooden box synonymous with the cover of this album.
