Doorbell camera captures the moment of the earthquake that struck Walsall and Birmingham

This is the moment when the doorbell camera captures the rumble of an earthquake that hit the West Midlands last night. The earthquake hit Walsall on February 21.

The earthquake occurred shortly before 11 pm on Monday. Birmingham also felt tremors, as did Wolverhampton.

There were also impacts felt 20 kilometers away – with some impacts in Coventry, Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield as well. The earthquake measured 2.8 on the scale, according to experts.

The doorbell’s camera can be seen recording a low roar on Monday evening. You can see the footage above.

Scott Edwards of Reach PLC told us: “At first I thought a big wind was hitting the house, and I got used to that this week, but then the roar of the entire building shook.

“Neither car alarms nor house alarms went off – so I checked the camera and heard the noise, before I saw people on social media around the area had experienced the same thing.”

“Then I saw that the Geological Survey had reported a small earthquake,” he added. On Twitter, others were reacting.

“I literally felt like someone slammed the door really hard causing the house to vibrate a little bit,” Annie said. Gordy Thandie of Birmingham Live said: “Earlier, I asked to name the next storm after me. Two hours later, an earthquake occurred in my hometown. British star Laura Tobin commented on ITV Good Morning Britain: “Reports say ‘the whole house shook for 2-3 seconds’, ‘I heard bangs and rooms shook,’ ‘I initially thought a truck had crashed’.”

She added, “It was ‘enough to drop small things from the cupboard’, ‘a loud bump, the walls vibrating’, and ‘as if someone was slamming the door’.”
