British patient suffered from Covid’s longest known case before his death: Report

This case is being studied by researchers at King’s College London.

A British man fought the same COVID-19 infection for almost 18 months, the longest-known and ongoing case since the outbreak of the pandemic.According to the report of MetroThe patient died 505 days after being diagnosed in 2020.

The details of the patient were not disclosed, but doctors said the immune system was severely immunocompromised.

However, doctors did not disclose the patient’s age or vaccination details.

The patient was victim of 10 mutations in the coronavirus, including alpha, gamma, and omicron.

The case is being investigated by experts from the NHS Foundation at King’s College London and Guys and St. Thomas.

The team is studying nine patients with weakened immunity due to HIV or other reasons. Four of these patients died and the other two recovered with antibody therapy and antivirals. The other two patients recovered without any treatment.

However, the ninth patient is still fighting an infection at 412 days of age.

People with immunodeficiency are particularly vulnerable to Covid because the body’s natural defenses are much weaker. Therefore, it takes time for the virus to recover and hide.

Researchers say this can increase the amount of time the virus mutates in the body, which can lead to the emergence of new variants. Metro Report.

The researchers presented their findings at the European Conference on Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases in Portugal.

This research is part of a project to understand the impact on long Covid and its people. Recent studies show that women with long Covids show more symptoms than men with the syndrome.
