Five proud boys charged with sedition and court issues no-contact order against Troyer, say hello to Sam’s new deputy director of the arts
Three cheers for the little salmon! The removal of a 2020 bridge in the Indian island’s port of Kilisut has reopened a fish lane, leading to a jump in young salmon in tidal grounds, KOMO reports. Five years before the bridge opened, only six baby salmon were found. But this year the volunteers seized nearly 1,000. “We weren’t expecting these results so quickly,” Bill Kalina, director of the Island India Environmental Program, told the news outlet.
JESUS H. CHRIST: Pierce County Sheriff Ed Troyer has been ordered to stay within 1,000 feet of Sedrick Altheimer, the black newspaper carrier who is currently suing Troyer and Pierce County over a January 2021 standoff for “unlawful harassment.” More from Jim Brunner in the Seattle Times:
In Monday’s ruling, Pierce District Court Judge Kristen Chen cited a “course of unlawful harassment conduct,” referring to multiple incidents in recent months in which Altheimer said Troyer followed him in his unmarked SUV, which he He spins around and flashes his lights as he delivers newspapers in Tacoma.”
Speaking of cops: Three Arizona cops have been put on leave after watching a homeless man drown in Lake Tempetown last month, reports the BBC. Recently released body cam footage recorded one of the policemen telling the man, “I’m not jumping behind you.” Protection and service, amerity?
“I feel like the Earth is moving under my feet…” A small-scale earthquake of magnitude 2.8 shook southwest Washington last night just before 7 p.m., Cuomo reports. According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake was about 2.3 miles deep and struck Fern Prairie, Washington State in Clark County. Nothing was damaged, but if you feel it, why not help some scientists.

In other earthquake news: A new study in Earth-Science Reviews has found that a tsunami caused by a 9.0 earthquake along the Cascadia fault line in the Pacific Northwest could be even more massive thanks to the so-called “outer wedge.” Isn’t the danger rather exciting?
Five proud members have been charged with “plot sedition” for their role in the January 6 storming of the Capitol: among the accused are Henry “Enrique” Tarrio, the former head of the far-right group, as well as Ethan Nordian, who lives near Auburn. According to the New York Times, the men were already charged in March with “conspiring to obstruct the certification of the 2020 presidential election.”
And later this week: The House Select Committee investigating the U.S. Capitol attack will hold the first of six public hearings during PRIMETIME on June 9 at 8PM ET / 5PM PT. The sessions are supposed to include new information, videos from that violent day, and “some of the nearly 1,000 interviews the panel conducted behind closed doors.” Democrats hope this will help change what’s shaping up to be a midterm massacre, but I’m not holding my breath!
Milo Yiannopoulos interns in the office of Representative Marjorie Taylor Green, lol: Yeah, it’s unpaid.
No Recalls: Elon Musk is trying to work his way out of spending $44 billion on Twitter by threatening to walk away from the deal on fake bot accounts on the platform. Axios says Tesla stock is worth a lot less today than it was when Musk pitched on Twitter, which means the CEO is “overpaying the company, with money he’d be hard-pressed to find.” Twitter does not own any of the billionaire BS, and they said in a statement that they “intend to close the transaction and enforce the merger agreement at the agreed price and terms.” I pop the popcorn!
Weather update: We love the 30-degree range.
Lots of sunshine starting the day but some patchy fog. Cool with highs in the mid forties. Cloud increase this afternoon. Chances of rain with the onset of sunset. warm. The highest levels were in the sixties through the mid seventies. #k5weather pic.twitter.com/e4HBf3jfID

It’s seal season in Puget Sound, which means keeping your damn dog home if you plan to enjoy any of Seattle Park’s beaches in West Seattle. These baby seal pups are endangered and protected by federal law, and are likely to appear anytime between now and September. If you notice any little ones on the beach, stay away from them and call the Seal Sitters hotline at 206-905-7325.
Big round of layoffs in Funko: The Everett-based company plans to lay off 258 workers in Everett and Boyalup starting Thursday, and according to a Funko spokesperson, the company is consolidating its four Washington warehouses at a 958,000-square-meter-foot location in Buckeye, Arizona.
New Deputy Director of Art at the Seattle Museum of Art: After “extensive international research,” Jose Carlos Diaz will officially take the position in July, directing the museum’s art program and leading eight curators in galleries, collections, publications, and libraries. He succeeds the brilliant Chiyo Ishikawa in the role, who retired in 2020 after three decades at SAM. According to a museum press release, Diaz is a “contemporary art specialist” and will be coming to Seattle from Pittsburgh, where he currently serves as the principal resident at the Andy Warhol Museum. SAM CEO and Director, Amada Cruz, described Diaz as a “researcher and visionary leader” whose hiring represents “a major moment for SAM, as we continue to explore an ongoing pandemic and look forward to a brighter future.” Hi Jose!
Something to consider: Robin’s bathroom would probably be really cool with a shower beer.

One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
