A new study from Brigham and Women’s Hospital shows that newly launched brands in the United States boost medical costs and “negatively impact patient access and affordability.”

The study included a variety of medications, including treatments for rare diseases, cancer treatments, and common conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.
Examples of expensive medicines include adalimumab (Humira), apixaban (Erikis), lenalidomide (Rebrimid), and empagliflozin (Jardians).
