Adam Sandler on Hustle’s Best Actor Awards Campaign
Adam Sandler is part of an impressive Best Actor awards campaign for Hustle.
The sports drama hit Netflix in June and stars Sandler as an NBA scout who discovers a talented basketball player (Juancho Hernangmez) in Spain.
For the film, the actor received some of the best reviews of his career.
While his previous films for Netflix, including The ridiculous 6, Sandy Wexler and Murder Mysterywere all torn apart by reviews, Hustle was well regarded and led to him breaking an impressive Rotten Tomatoes record.
On Wednesday October 26, the Academy organized an award ceremony for Hustle, which would have received a warm welcome. Sandler was in attendance and took part in a Q&A moderated by American host Jimmy Fallon.
vanity lounge reported that Netflix may consider pushing Sandler for Best Actor at the Oscars following lackluster festival response to other upcoming films, including Alejandro Gonzlez Irritus bardo and Noah Baumbachs White noisewhich stars Daniel Gimnez Cacho and Adam Driver, respectively.
While Sandler still remains an outside bet for an Oscar nomination, recognition by smaller awards bodies, including Critics Choice, isn’t out of the question.
However, Sandler certainly strikes while the iron is hot and has attended several events across Los Angeles in recent months. Earlier this week, he was named the recipient of the annual Gotham Awards performer tribute.
