Some 87,000 Malatya residents who left the province after the earthquakes have reportedly returned, with an increasing number of people living in tents creating additional needs and strain on services.

According to the authorities, all official tent cities will be closed within a month, and hot meal distribution will be finished by the end of June. People will be supported with kitchen utensils and food packs to allow the transition to independent cooking. Authorities are standardizing formal and informal tent sites to provide better services, with people moving to container cities. According to local government sources, an estimated 9,400 refugees living in official tent sites will be relocated to container sites under construction in Al Mandak district. Partners engage with refugees and other communities regarding resettlement.
