LA County Opens Three New COVID-19 Test Sites Next Week – NBC Los Angeles
Announced Wednesday, Los Angeles County will open three new COVID-19 test sites next week to expand access to “Most Needed Areas” such as Montebello, Southgate and Panorama City.
These sites will start offering appointments on Monday at Southgate Park at Southgate 4900. Tuesday, Montebello Civic Center, 1600 W. Beverly Boulevard. Wednesday at 14665 Roscoe Blvd. in Panorama City.
By the end of the weekend, these additional sites will be able to test nearly 2,000 residents a day, five days a week, according to the county’s Emergency Operations Center.
The City of Los Angeles also continues to roll out mobile test units to the test-demanding community, and this week the team is providing testing to residents of the Nickerson Gardens residential development and Boyle Heights area.
“Our color community has been overly affected by COVID-19 because of decades of systematic inequality. This is unacceptable,” Los Angeles County supervisor Hilda L. Solis. Said. “County testing sites may require insurance information to recover costs, but no one disobeys being uninsured.”
Last week, the City of Los Angeles opened a new site at Jackie Robinson Stadium, a 15th Department of Veterans Affairs car park.
“Testing helps us track down this virus, prevent its spread and save lives. Los Angeles offers more tests than ever before and continues to roll out mobile testing to the smashing community. Is essential,” said Mayor Eric Garcetti.
According to the joint statement, the city and county COVID-19 test sites combine the ability to test more than 140,000 people per day. Since starting the free test in March, 1.2 million tests have been provided to residents.
People can visit covid19.lacounty.gov/testing/ or coronavirus.lacity.org/testing for a complete list of sites and up-to-date information on availability.
Priority is given to those with symptoms, those at high risk of getting the virus, and essential workers, but any Los Angeles County resident can schedule the test.
The COVID-19 test is also offered at select CVSs, Rite-Aids, Federally Authorized Medical Centers, and Medical Centers operated by the Los Angeles County Department of Health.
