Poonch, March 1: In a proactive measure to enhance disaster preparedness in the district, Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik today chaired a meeting with officers aimed at strengthening response capabilities of the community in case of potential disasters.

The meeting focused on detailed planning and implementation of a region-wide mock exercise, which will simulate an earthquake and landslide scenario.

The meeting was attended by Khan from ARTO, representatives of disaster and fire services and other officials concerned, addressed various aspects of the upcoming mock exercise.

During the deliberations, the Additional Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of comprehensive planning and implementation to enhance community response capabilities.

Detailed arrangements for the mock exercise were discussed, including the selection of five sites, preferably schools, colleges, small localities and a district hospital to conduct the exercise. The designated locations for the exercise are as follows: PWD Complex Lok Nirmal Bhawan, Hr. second. Boys School Poonch, GDC Poonch, GDC Mendar and District Hospital Poonch.

Moreover, the meeting also focused on updating the status of equipment available at each department involved in disaster response. The officers present provided updates on the current status of the equipment and discussed measures to address any gaps or deficiencies.
