BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Texas A&M football fans know some details about the Aggies 2020 schedule, but there are still unanswered questions. The schedule for 10 games conferences starts on September 26. Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt were all on the original 2020 schedule and remain on the new schedule. The unanswered questions about the schedule are: who will be the two additional SEC opponents, and what is the order of the matches? Ross Bjork, Texas A&M athletics director, said, I would now like to say that we should anticipate that it will look very different so we know what it looks like. As of yesterday, I’m not sure what the rhythm will be. I don’t know with whom they open well, I don’t know if they open well at home or on the road.
Each team in the SEC will play five home games and five road games this season, so Aggies’ match with Arkansas is expected to move from AT&T Stadium in Arlington to Kyle Field, as Texas A&M is the home team this season. The teams have a contract to play at the AT&T stadium until 2024, but once the contract ends, Bjork says they have no intention of renewing it.
Bjork also said on Friday that he does not believe Texas A&M will have any financial obligations to Abilene Christian, North Texas or the state of Fresno, all of whom would be playing non-conference games against the Aggies at Kyle Field this season. This is a public health issue that is beyond our control and that will be our position. We offer all three remaining non-conference games and the option to play on a different date later. We have expanded those offers and we can see where they are going. Nothing was accepted, but that is our position that this is beyond our control and that it is a public health issue.
Texas A&M was also scheduled to host Colorado in a non-conference game this season, but that game was canceled when the Pac-12 conference announced they would be playing a football-only schedule this season.
