Earthquake today: Residents of India and Pakistan felt an earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale on Friday afternoon, July 12. Residents of North Kashmir reported seismic activity at around 12:26 p.m. The earthquake, at a depth of 10 kilometers, struck Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Two days ago, an earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck Hingoli district of Maharashtra on the morning of July 10. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the tremors were felt in Hingoli district around 7:14 a.m. The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km.

“Cyclone Intensity: 4.5, At: 10/07/2024 07:14:53 IST, Latitude: 19.43 N, Longitude: 77.32 E, Depth: 10 km, Location: Hingoli, Maharashtra,” the National Meteorological Department said in a tweet.

Following the earthquake, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar appealed to people to remain alert and not panic as the administration is taking all precautionary steps. He said the earthquake that struck parts of the state was mild.

“An earthquake measuring 4.5 magnitude occurred at 7.14 am in Hingoli, Parbhani, Beed, Jalna, Nanded and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar districts of Marathwada and Washim and adjoining areas of Vidarbha region,” Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister was quoted as saying by Press Trust of India. He made the remarks while addressing the Legislative Assembly.

He said the state government was taking the incident seriously, adding: “There was panic among the locals, but citizens are advised to remain alert and the administration is taking all precautionary steps,” the Press Trust of India reported.

He also revealed that the epicentre of the earthquake was at Rameshwar Banda village in Kalamnoori area of ​​Hingoli district. The tremors were mild and no casualties were reported.
