Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi ask IHC not to arrest them in Toshakhana case

PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against their arrest in the Toshakhana case.

On behalf of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, the application was filed before the IHC by advocate Salman Safdar and Khalid Yusuf Chaudhry.

Chairman NAB, DG NAB and other officials have been made parties to the petition. The court is requested to declare the arrest illegal. It is also requested to issue release orders and subject the arrest to the orders of the High Court in future.

According to the petition, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were arrested without warrant in false cases of political vengeance.

The petition states that the two accused were arrested during the hearing of the petitions.

Political opponents are using NAB for political revenge, he added. High courts have stressed in their judgments that an arrest cannot be made on the basis of a complaint alone, the petition said.

The petition also states that an investigation has been initiated against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi and there was no need to arrest PTI founder Bushra Bibi immediately after her release in the Iddat case. There is also violation of the High Court orders.

It is noteworthy that after the acquittal in the Iddat Nikah case on July 13, the National Accountability Bureau arrested the former prime minister and his wife in the new Toshakhana case.
