CM inaugurates Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Sports Complex

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the newly constructed Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Sports Complex on the 69th founding anniversary of Madhya Pradesh. Spread over 18 hectares and built at a cost of Rs 11.43 crores, the complex features an international-level synthetic athletics track and a multi-purpose sports facility. The sports complex includes facilities for badminton, table tennis, a mallakhamb arena, shooting ranges, a football field, tennis courts and a state-of-the-art gym. It also offers amenities such as player lounges and spectator seating. The opening ceremony was attended by several dignitaries including Skill Development and Employment Minister Gautam Tetwal, Rajya Sabha MP Balayogi Umeshnath, MPs Anil Firoziya and Satish Malviya, Mayor Mukesh Tatwal, and several local representatives and sports enthusiasts. During his speech, Prime Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted India's remarkable progress in sports under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting the country's performance in international competitions.

He emphasized the importance of sports in promoting mutual trust, self-confidence and determination in life. Dr. Yadav announced that the state has included sports in the curriculum through the new education policy, ensuring equal opportunities for sports teachers and coaches. Dr. Yadav also expressed pride in Ujjain's historical significance in sports like gymnastics and mallakhamb, stating that the youth of the region would use this complex to excel in national and international competitions. In addition, he announced plans for an Astro turf stadium in Ujjain to promote hockey and the Dhyan Chand tournament, and plans to convert the Kshirsagar Stadium into a multi-purpose facility. He also mentioned the construction of a world-class cricket stadium at Vikram University. After the inauguration, Dr. Yadav toured the complex, witnessed demonstrations of mallakhamb, enjoyed target practice in the shooting arena and played table tennis with athlete Anuj Mishra. He encouraged young athletes in badminton, table tennis and athletics during their interactions.
