Day camp in the Waterloo area outbreaks after a child is positive for coronavirus
According to the Waterloo Public Health Service, day camps in the Waterloo area were put into outbreak after a child camper tested positive for a new coronavirus.
The camp was put on an outbreak on Monday after Waterloo public health noticed a positive test.
“The case is a child going to a camp, but the number of camps is relatively small, so we won’t provide any more details about the camp.” “So we want to make sure we can protect your privacy.”

According to Wang, the Waterloo Public Health Service continues to investigate where the child got the virus.

“Usually, the camp or daycare operator will send you information to make sure you reach the parents and staff you need, and give you the public health information we provide,” Wang explained.
She says a positive test does not automatically mean that the camp will be closed.
“It depends on an assessment of the situation regarding exposure to other children and staff, and whether or not some or all campers in the camp need to be decommissioned. Therefore, it does not necessarily mean a shutdown. No,” she said.
On Thursday, there was one new positive test for the new coronavirus reported by Waterloo Public Health, but the actual number of cases was reduced by three.

According to the agency, there are 1,438 cases of COVID-19 cases in the area.
The local chief physician said switching to the state reporting system was responsible for the recent variability in case size.
“We are fine-tuning the data quality process for the new system,” Wang said. “We needed to tweak the overall numbers a little, for reasons such as removing duplicates and forwarding cases that could be attributed to other health units.”
She says fluctuations will continue as other health units sign on to the system.
“For example, today there was one new positive case in our area and a previously reported case was transferred to another health unit,” Wang explained.
Two more were cleared of the virus in the Waterloo area, bringing the total number of cases resolved to 1,283.
No deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported in the area since last Thursday, leaving 120 deaths.
The number of active cases in the area, including the two remaining in hospital for COVID-19, is currently down to 35.
