OHA today released its latest modeling report. The current infection rates show that each case is reduced to a lesser number of cases than others. As a result, the number of daily cases is decreasing.

“This is tremendous progress, but only if we continue to put pressure on it,” said Dean Sydlinger, MD, state health officer and state epidemiologist. “We can’t alleviate it, and we can’t allow Labor Day’s get-togethers to raise our rates. The virus is very contagious and spreads very quickly. It won’t take long to rise again.”

The model considered the following scenarios.

If the infection rate continues to be as it is today, by September 24th, the new daily case will be reduced from 560 today to 410, resulting in approximately 150 diagnoses. There are 6 severe cases per day, indicating a reproductive rate of 0.9 in this scenario, with each case producing an average of 0.9 other cases.

If the infection rate drops by 5% by September 24, the model estimates 240 cases per day, of which approximately 90 cases and 5 severe cases per day are diagnosed. In this scenario, the play rate is slightly lower at 0.77.

If the infection rate increased by 5% from the current level, by September 24, each case would generate 1.05 new cases, and daily cases would increase to 790, diagnosed as 180 per day. In severe cases, the number increases to 11 people per day.
