2 deaths and 814 new cases as CMO warns of rapid growth
As Covid-19 continues to grow rapidly across the country, the general public is required to minimize social contact.
At midnight on Saturday, October 10, another 814 confirmed cases of the virus were reported to the Ministry of Health.
Of the confirmed cases, 226 are in Dublin, 77 are in Cork, 64 are in Goalway, 56 are in Donegal, and 48 are in Meath.
The remaining 343 cases have spread to all remaining counties.
The department has also been notified of two more deaths, with the virus killing 1,826 people.
As of 2:00 pm this Sunday, 204 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized, 30 of whom were in the intensive care unit.
There have been 16 additional hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tony Holohan said: Minimize social contact and keep physical distance when you need to get out of the house. “
“22 of the 26 counties have a 7-day incidence as a percentage of the 14-day incidence of over 50%.
“This shows the rate of rapid growth across the country.”

- 432 are male / 381 are female.
- 70% are under 45 years old.
- The median age is 32 years.
