MADISON, Wisconsin – Despite the pandemic and evolving Halloween plans, costume sales have not slowed this year, according to Halloween Express employees.
Eric Bero, director of Halloween Express’s Madison West site, explained how unsure of how the pandemic could affect business this year. He said that many people’s plans for the holidays themselves had changed, but not their plans to wear costumes.
“I think it’s important to have something normal, at least for the kids,” Bero said. “It’s great fun that everyone can participate.”
Many Madison children still plan to wear their costumes, albeit with some Covid-friendly adjustments, like the addition of a mask.
“It’s important for kids to come out and have fun,” said Kevin T. Luoma, Halloween Express employee. “Even in the midst of the pandemic, there are safer and smarter ways to do it.”
Halloween Express employees urge all customers to wear a mask with their costume, although the CDC reminds you not to put a costume mask on a cloth mask, as it may make it harder to breathe.
“Getting dressed can just make you feel better,” Luoma said. “You can’t cancel Halloween.”
