Experienced and praised heart surgeon died in intensive care unit Wales After positive test of Covid-19.
Jitendra Rathod, two 58-year-old fathers, died at the University of Wales Hospital. Cardiff on Monday.
Rassod was an associate specialist in cardiothoracic surgery at the hospital. He is believed to be the first medical worker to die in Wales after the diagnosis of Covid-19.
A statement posted on the Cardiff and Veil University Health Commission website states that he has been working in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery since the mid-1990s, paying homage to Ratod.
After a short stint abroad, Rathod, known as Jitu by colleagues and friends, returned to the University of Wales Hospital.
“He was an incredibly dedicated surgeon who cares deeply for his patients,” said the Health Commission. “He loved it and he was respected by himself. He was a very caring and wonderful person.
“His commitment to the specialty was exemplary. He survives with his wife and two sons. I miss him.”
No details were given on how Rathod signed the virus.
Mark Drakeford, the first Minister of Wales, paid tribute to Rassod.
He told the BBC breakfast: We all do everything we can to protect each other’s influence. “
Former Wales Torrey leader Andrew RT Davis said the news was “incredibly sad” and added: My thoughts with his wife and two sons. “
Public health Wales said on Monday that 302 new cases were tested positive for coronavirus in Wales.
The number of deaths in Wales has increased to 193, with an additional 27 reported deaths from people testing positive for Covid-19.
There are 66 new cases in the Cardiff and Veil regions, bringing the total to 888.
