Approximately 1,200 COVID-19 cases have been seen in Orange County, with three more dead before Thanksgiving.
The Orange County Healthcare Agency reported three coronavirus deaths and 1,199 infections on Wednesday, with the latest number of viruses tracked one day before Thanksgiving.
During the pandemic, 1,559 lives were lost in Orange County due to the virus-induced illness COVID-19. The cumulative number of cases in the county increased to 73,152.
There were 479 hospitalizations for the virus, 115 of whom were treated in the intensive care unit.
Medical institutions also reported 15,084 tests for the virus. This brings the total number of inspections performed throughout the county to 1,385,195. Estimated recovery in the county after infection with the virus is 58,608.
When the holidays come, public health officials are running campaigns to limit meetings. A social media post posted on Twitter by the county medical institution urged residents to “rethink their holidays and refrain from large family gatherings to protect their loved ones during a pandemic.”
The post also provided a link to information on where and how to book a COVID-19 test. The Costa Mesa Orange County Trade Fair and Anaheim Convention Center are listed as test supersites.
Orange County currently has a new daily case rate of 17.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and a test positive rate of 6.8%. Both of these indicators are tracked as a 7-day average with a 4-day lag.

- Laguna Beach: 310; less than 5 deaths

- 65-74: 4,475 cases; 306 deaths
- 75-84: 2,349 cases; 338 deaths
- 85 years and over: 1,768 cases. 514 people died
