UK’s new national blockade closes as schools and universities close – BBC News
Boris Johnson has announced that England is once again entering a blockade to enforce the law. England joins Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to impose tougher new restrictions in the face of a plethora of new cases of coronavirus. In a televised speech on Downing Street, the prime minister said he believed it was a key moment in the fight against the pandemic and that the previous weeks would be the hardest. Johnson said people living in England should stay home and leave alone for exceptional reasons. People who are clinically very weak are required to be re-shielded. All schools and universities in England will be closed until at least the end of February. And most of the GCSE and A level exams will not take place this year in England.
