Riverside County reports 3,901 new coronavirus cases and 53 new deaths
Riverside County health officials on Wednesday reported an additional 3,901 cases of coronavirus and 53 new virus-related deaths since Tuesday.
According to data provided by the county’s public health authorities and Johns Hopkins University, the county exceeded 200,000 COVIDs-19 on Tuesday, joining the other seven US counties to reach a tough milestone.
It took about nine months for Riverside County to collect 100,000 cases, reaching that threshold on December 8. In less than a month, the total has more than doubled.
According to the COVID-19 dashboard, the county has confirmed 203,957 cases of coronavirus since the pandemic began. As of Wednesday, the county’s death toll had risen to 2,151.
Riverside County, home to about 2.5 million people, is California’s fourth most populous county. It continues to record the third highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state, after San Bernardino County (second most common) and Los Angeles County.
Los Angeles County, the most populous county in the United States, also leads the county in the United States with more than 840,000 reported cases across the border.
Riverside County only reports the death for any reason after the death certificate has been submitted and recorded.
According to the county, 132,570 people have recovered. This is about 65% of all cases.
Coronavirus hospitalizations were slightly reduced in Riverside County on Wednesday, with 1,611 COVID-19 cases reported in regional hospitals. This is a decrease of 4 patients from Tuesday. Of those admitted to Riverside County, record 343 is being treated in the intensive care unit — one more than Tuesday.
The Southern California region, including Riverside County, is currently being ordered to stay home and is valid in areas with surprisingly low bed levels in available hospitals and intensive care units. Riverside County dropped to 0% of the ICU capacity available two weeks ago and stayed there as of Wednesday.

Currently infected (number: The number of known active cases across the county on Wednesday was 69,236. According to the county secretariat, active counts are derived by subtracting death and recovery from the total of current cases.
Recovery: According to the county, 132,570 people have recovered. This is about 65% of all cases.
test: A total of 1,749,027 coronavirus tests were conducted in Riverside County, officials said. Since Tuesday, 18,276 additional tests have been conducted.
vaccine: As of Sunday, the county has been vaccinated 25,310 times with COVID-19 and 17,294 inhabitants have been vaccinated.
Who is infected with the virus?
Approximately 9.6% of county-wide COVID-19 cases are diagnosed among people over the age of 65. However, people over the age of 65 account for about 71.2% of county virus-related deaths.
According to data from health authorities, the total number of cases in counties classified by age is as follows:
- 4,238 cases (2.2%) were among people aged 0 to 4 years
- 20,286 cases (10.4%) were among people aged 5 to 17 years
- 82,365 cases (42%) were among people aged 18-39
- 69,842 cases (35.6%) were among people aged 40 to 64
- 14,534 cases (7.4%) were among people aged 65 to 79
- 4,618 cases (2.4%) were people over 80 years old
The total number of deaths is also categorized by age.
- Two deaths (.1%) were between people aged 0 to 17
- 11 deaths (0.5%) were among people between the ages of 18 and 24
- 91 deaths (4.3%) were among people between the ages of 25 and 44
- 501 deaths (23.9%) were among people between the ages of 45 and 64
- 1,036 deaths (49.4%) were among people aged 65-84
- 457 deaths (21.8%) were among people over the age of 85
