San Diego County Health and Welfare Agency 1,265 new COVID-19 infections were reported on Saturday, and an additional 35 reported deaths from the virus.

Of the 24,279 tests reported on Saturday, 5.2% were positive, reducing the 14-day moving average to 7.2%. In mid-January, that percentage was close to 15%.

Saturday’s report has boosted the total number of coronaviruses in the county to 245,334 cases and 2,812 deaths since the pandemic began.

Public health officials reported 1,122 patients with COVID-19 at county hospitals, of whom 339 were receiving intensive care, reducing more than 400 inpatients from two weeks ago.

The number of ICU patients with COVID-19 decreased by 89 in the same two weeks. Currently, there are 36 open and staffed ICU beds in the county.
