Stoney Westmoreland, the actor who embarrassed Disney with his criminal sexual behavior
For former Disney actor Stoney Westmoreland was sentenced to two years in prison for attempting to induce a minor to have sex.
He also attempted to use interstate facilities to pass information on a minor after his 2018 arrest in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The 52-year-old appeared to be sentenced to 10 years behind bars in federal prison due to six separate criminal counts. He was allowed to plead for lesser charges.
Why was Stoney Westmoreland arrested and convicted?
Westmoreland was arrested in December 2018 for allegedly attempting to have sex with a 13-year-old boy.
The actor was using the dating app Grindr when he came across a profile that appeared to be an underage boy. This profile was actually operated by detectives in Salt Lake City where his Disney show was filmed.
Before the arrest in December 2018, Westmoreland had sent explicit photos and requested nude photos back from the profile.
He also took a taxi to meet the boy and return to his hotel room, according to authorities at the time.
Charging documents say he admitted to police that he had sent nude photos and that he knew the person was 13 years old.
His defense was that he thought he was an adult engaging in role-playing.
“Mr. Westmoreland maintains that he believed that the person he was talking to was probably an adult who was involved in a role-playing game”, Westmorelandthe lawyer wendy lewis said.
“If there had been a real miner there when he arrived, he would have left.”
Two years in prison and other sentences for Stoney Westmoreland
According to the deadline, Westmoreland must also be granted 10 years of probation, even once released, and he must register as a sex offender.

All of his electronic devices are subject to random search and inspection by authorities and he was required to report all electronic communication accounts such as emails and social media accounts.
