Why many aren't impressed with Detroit's new Hollywood sign
DETROIT The city of Detroit put up its own version of the Hollywood sign ahead of the NFL Draft, and it's fair to say some people aren't impressed.
The sign was unveiled along eastbound I-94 between Central Street and Cecil Avenue, a collaboration between the city, DTE Energy, MDOT, FHWA and Fairmount Sign Company.
It took several weeks to build the letters, then a few days to install them, but now that it's finished, some people aren't thrilled with the look.
Comments on the city's Facebook page include jokes like “They got the letters from someone's refrigerator” and “When you order your Hollywood-style sign from Wish.”
Detroit rapper GMac Cash already released a song in disagreement the sign, which is just classic GMac Cash. The song starts off with it looks like they got these letters from Toys R Us, bruh!
One of the biggest differences people point out is that it doesn't look like a render that was floating around the internet, but this render, linked herewas never an official rendering — it was just an AI-generated image spread by Instagram accounts like MetroDetroitNews.
The sign would never have been as big as the Ren Cen, guys. Come on.

Not everyone hates it, there's a lot of supportive reactions on social media, but when you compare the real world to the AI world, you're going to have some issues.
