Legendary Kannada actor-producer Dwarakish is no more

Legendary Kannada actor, producer and director Dwarakish passed away at his residence in Bangalore on Tuesday. He was 81 years old.
Dwarakish's son Yogish told reporters that the veteran artist died in his sleep in the morning at his residence in Electronic City. Dwarakish's mortal remains will be kept at Ravindra Kalakshetra in Bengaluru from 7:30 am to 10:30 am for people to pay their last respects on Wednesday. Cremation will take place at Chamarajpet in Bangalore
Dwarakish, who debuted as an actor with his maternal uncle Hunsur KrishnamurthysVeera Sankalpa in 1964, he first came to prominence as a comedian before becoming a prolific producer under the banner Dwarakish Chitra in the Kannada film industry. In collaboration with Dr. Rajkumar and director Siddalingaiah, his first independent production, Mayor Muthanna was a success and became a classic.
The association of Dwarakish with actor Dr Vishnuvardhan is considered one of the most successful combinations in the Kannada film industry. He produced and starred alongside Vishnuvardhan in hits such as Kittu Puttu (1977),Singaporenalli RajaKulla (1978), Guru Shishyaru (nineteen eighty one),Prachanda Kulla(1986) and Apthamitra (2004).

As a director, Dwarakish launched Vinod Raj, the son of popular Kannada actress Leelavathi, in Dance Raja Dance. He delivered a hit as a director with Vishnuvardhans Rayaru Bandaru Mavana ride. Dwarakish Chitra, who saw many highs and many lows, went on to produce more than 50 films.
Apthamitra was the last big success of the Dwarakish Chitra banner. The film, a remake of the Malayalam classic, Manichitrathazhu, was released in theaters for over a year.
As news of his passing spread, tributes and condolences began to pour in from stakeholders and state leaders. I am saddened by the passing of Dwarakish. His demise is a big loss to the Kannada film industry, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said.
JD(S) leader and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy said Dwarakish was an asset to the Kannada film industry. Having worked with legends like Dr Rajkumar, Dr Vishnuvardhan and Ambareesh, Dwarakish's contribution to the film industry has been immense.
Senior Kannada actors such as Jaggesh and Doddanna spoke to reporters and paid tributes to Dwarakish while stars such as Shivarajkumar and Darshan offered their condolences on social media.
