Pet Fashion Show 2024
ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) – Pet owners were able to bring their furry friends to participate in a pet fashion show.
Power Team Properties and the city of Odessa hosted the event for the first time.
During this event, food trucks, music, entertainment, vendors.
People were able to adopt a pet at this event and there was a pet fashion show where people could compete for a trophy.
People could dress their dogs in superhero, western cowboy-style clothing, as well as a dress and wig.
They've never done anything like this. I was excited because they're crazy, said Sarah Dominguez.
The judges awarded Mr. and Mrs. Pet Pad of the Year a crown and a special certificate.
It would be pretty cool if I never won anything, so if they won something, that would be cool, Sarah Dominguez said.
Pet owners are happy to be able to take their pets to participate in fun activities in the community.
It also serves as a way to socialize their pet and get them active.
“We used to do it a lot more often. I feel like there aren’t a lot of events for these animals anymore, but we tried to do it. My dog is getting old from being outside in this heat. It’s fun,” said José Valenzuela.
One of the organizers owned a pet store and she organized pet fashion shows for twelve years.
She wanted to continue doing pet fashion shows for the community.
“It's important for the community. There's not a lot to do in Odessa and something like this helps the community,” said Jose Valenzuela.
Organizers plan to expand the pet fashion show throughout the Permian Basin, hosting it in Monahans, Andrews and Midland.
Next year we hope to have two fairs. This year we only have one, but we hope to have two next year and that will include all the surrounding communities in the Permian Basin, said Amber Barrientes, branch manager of Service First Mortgage
