The week officially kicks off on Friday, September 6 at 1pm with Area, which is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary. It’s going to be a big day for the city, with Collina Strada and Willy Chavarria also hosting shows on opening day. They’ll be joined by Pieter Mulier, who opted out of Alaas’s usual time slot, which is adjacent to Paris’ couture season, for an off-schedule show here in the Big Apple. The Belgian designer is no stranger to the city, having spent a few years here alongside Raf Simons during his Calvin Klein 205W39NYC days. Alaa isn’t the only European brand making the leap this season: Ib Kamara’s second appearance as Off-White’s official creative director will take place on Sunday, September 8 at noon, while Ronald van der Kemp will present his fall 2024 couture collection on Wednesday, September 11 at 11 a.m., and after a stopover in Paris, Stockholm’s Elin Kling and Toteme’s Karl Lindman will stage their shows on Tuesday, September 10 at 10 a.m. Campillo, the Mexican brand helmed by recently named LVMH Prize finalist Patricio Campillo, will also stage its first show in the city on Saturday, September 7 at 9 a.m.
Who Decides War is back on the official schedule on Saturday, September 7 at 1 p.m., as is Rio Sport, Rio Uribe's new brand, which will air on Wednesday, September 11 at 1 p.m. The week will be marked by a large contingent of CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists Kate Barton, Grace Ling, Jane Wade and Wiederhoeft return to the lineup, while 5000 members Taylor Thompson, Sebastien Ami and Presley Oldham make their debuts. Last year’s CVFF winner Melitta Baumeister will close out NYFW with her first-ever fashion show on the 11th at 5 p.m.
