University of Exeter researcher Dr. Lisa Stead seeks to trace the legacy of Leighs and its links to Devon.

The Bill Douglas Film Museum, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery (RAMM) of Exeter city councils and the Topsham Museum all hold artifacts belonging to the actress, including costumes, correspondence, albums and souvenirs.

A new interactive website (reframingvivienleigh.exeter.ac.uk) shows 3D models of the artifacts and tracks their journey. A new podcast series explores the connections of Leighs South West.

Leighs evening dresses are at RAMM, as are the letters from her daughter Suzanne Farrington, who gave them to the museum.

Shelley Tobin, RAMM costume curator, said: We have three of the actresses’ fabulous dresses, all presented to RAMM in 1977 by her daughter, Suzanne Farrington. They were worn for the first few nights and after the holidays.
