PTI MPs to launch campaign for release of party founder – Pakistan

PESHAWAR: Lawyers and elected officials of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have reaffirmed their commitment to take all possible measures for the release of their leaders.

Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, party leaders led by MPs Arbab Sher Ali, Shandana Gulzar and lawyer Moazam Butt said that Imran Khan's life was under serious threat.

We will take all possible steps to raise our voice to ensure the safety of the life of PTI founder Imran Khan and urge the party members to intensify their efforts for a vigorous campaign to secure the release of our leader from earlier, they said.

The PTI, they said, would use all options to quickly release the detained party leaders, saying that Imran Khan's life was under serious threat.

They also referred to the statements of Pakistan Muslim League N leaders, including Marriyum Aurangzeb and Rana Sanaullah, and said they should be held accountable for sending death threats to the PTI founder.

We will take the PML-N leader to court. We will file petitions against them, Moazam Butt said, urging the legal community to fulfill their professional duties for the rule of law in the country.

Referring to a letter from Islamabad High Court judges, he said all institutions should work within their constitutional framework to avoid conflicts.

Shandana Gulzar said her party was ready to launch a movement for the release of Imran Khan. She asked the party leaders, especially the elected representatives, to fulfill the promises they had made to the voters, to come together for a vigorous campaign against the victimization of the PTI leadership.
