THE BBC apologized after removing mocking laughter aimed at the Prime Minister Boris Johnson in a general election debate.

The company was accused of bias after laughter was removed from this clip in its Saturday lunchtime bulletin.

This caused a growing storm over the weekend and on Monday, with the Mirror report the Liberal Democrats had written to media watchdog Ofcom demanding an investigation.

The BBC, after facing three days of calls to apologize, did so on Monday afternoon.

A spokesperson said in a statement: This clip from the BBC's Question Time special, which was broadcast in full on News at Ten on Friday evening and other media outlets, has been shortened for timing reasons in the Saturday noon bulletin, in order to remove a repetitive sentence. by Boris Johnson.

During the broadcast, in which each leader was questioned for half an hour by members of the public, the Prime Minister also refused to apologize for his use of language and defended Tory austerity in the show.
