Eid Festival, Jokowi fruit and vegetable shops at Berastagi fruit market, North Sumatra

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is currently in North Sumatra during the Eid holiday. Jokowi took time to visit the Berastagi fruit market in Karo Regency, North Sumatra.

According to information from the Presidential Secretariat Office on Saturday (13/4/2024), Jokowi went directly to select and purchase locally produced fresh fruits sold by sellers.

Jokowi purchased fruits and vegetables, including 5 kilograms of oranges, 2 kilograms of mango, 2 kilograms of snake fruit and 2 kilograms of red potatoes.

Traders there were also happy with Jokowi's presence. One of them is orange trader Marlina Kataren. He didn't expect Jokowi to visit the market.

“Alhamdulillah, I am very happy that Mr. Negara is here. Like this dream, I hope that with the arrival of Mr. Jokowi, our sales will be even more popular,” said Marlina.

Lilis Sembiring, another orange trader, was also moved by Jokowi's presence. “Wow, I saw Mr. Jokowi earlier, tears were about to flow. I am very happy that Mr. Jokowi was allowed to be here,” he said.

Jokowi's visit not only left an emotional impression on traders, but also sent a strong message about the importance of supporting the local agricultural sector. With around 70 percent of Karo Regency's population working in the agricultural sector, this market is not only a place of commerce, but also a symbol of the strength and resilience of the local community.

It is known that Jokowi has been in Medan since the second day of Eid, Thursday (11/4/2024). Jokowi's visit to Medan City was to meet his children and grandchildren.
