It is a popular democracy by nature and at the same time represents the will of the State. Surveys conducted over ten years by the Kennedy Schools in China have shown that more than 90% of Chinese people are satisfied with the central government.
Ambassador Xie pointed out that all roads lead to Rome and that a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet. Democracy is neither an ornament nor a spectacle. It should be about solving the real problems of the people. Likewise, each civilization is unique in its own way and none is superior to the others. This is why President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Civilization Initiative. It advocates respect for the diversity of civilizations and calls for overcoming the distance between civilizations through exchanges, preventing their clash through mutual learning and rejecting the false sense of superiority through coexistence, so that all civilizations can flourish together.
During his speech, Ambassador Xie also outlined China's solemn position on issues related to Taiwan, Xizang, Xinjiang and Hong Kong.
