TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The relationship between President Joko Widodo alias Jokowi and president-elect Prabowo Subianto would be separated. Where does this news come from?
Report of Tempomember of Prabowo's legal defense team Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Hotman Paris Hutapea, revealed a message from Prabowo after meeting in Kertanegara on Tuesday evening, April 23, 2024.
According to Hotman, Prabowo said that no party should pit Prabowo against President Jokowi. However, Hotman did not mention the party in question.
“Let no one try to pit me (Prabowo) against Jokowi. Don't get your hopes up. It's impossible, he (Prabowo) said,” Hotman said.
He said there were individuals who were trying to pit Prabowo against Jokowi. These individuals, Hotman said, were not only trying to oppose each other, but also trying to thwart the general election. After being investigated, Hotman continued, the person was suspected of having a history of corruption.
“The fights against each other were carried out by individuals involved in the KKN or their families and will be resolved in the near future. This is his (Prabowo's) message,” he said.
In accordance with Hotman, the vice president of Prabowo-Gibran's defense team, Otto Hasibuan, conveyed this message which became the main point of Prabowo's meeting with his legal team.
“Recalling that Pak Prabowo said that there were many rumors that could be aimed at dividing, opposing Pak Prabowo and Pak Jokowi,” Otto said.

He advised that these problems should stop. Otto claimed that this strong message from Prabowo made them proud and confident that the General Chairman of the Gerindra Party, as the elected president, could build the nation together with Gibran.
“So we pray that Pak Prabowo and Pak Gibran can continue to lead after October and we hope that this can be implemented.”
General Secretary of the Party Gérindra Ahmad Muzani dismissed rumors of strained relations between President Jokowi and Prabowo.
“There is no (estrangement),” said Muzani when met at Prabowo's residence, Jalan Kertanegara No. 4, South Jakarta, Thursday evening, April 25, 2024.
