Jokowi visits Banyuwangi to distribute land certificates
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi began a working visit to Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, Tuesday, April 30. He and his entourage took off around 1:20 p.m. Jakarta time aboard Indonesian Presidential Plane-1 from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta.

Jokowi expressed optimism that the distribution of land certificates could be accelerated through digitalization and the land redistribution program would be completed by next year. Out of a total of 126 million certificates, there are still around 3 to 6 million certificates to be distributed.
Today, the President handed over 10,300 land certificates, which is the largest number of certificates he has distributed so far.
According to him, electronic certificates would simplify the process of land redistribution. In addition, he received a report from the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Land Planning and the head of the National Land Agency, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), according to which the land mafia is in decline because many residents obtained their certificates.
The government hoped that the certified lands could be used productively. If the certificate is used as loan collateral, Jokowi suggests the public use it for productive businesses.
