Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who met with Donald Trump at the Republican Party convention, said he was confident that Trump would support Ukraine if elected president, the BBC reports.

“We discussed Ukraine and I am confident that he will be strong and decisive in supporting that country in the defense of democracy,” Johnson wrote on the X network, where he also posted a photo of Trump.

Johnson did not explain what the trust placed in Donald Trump is based on.

A day earlier, Trump had chosen as his running mate Senator James David Vance – an even more ardent isolationist than Trump himself and one of the most vocal critics of Ukraine aid in the US Congress.
