Congress MP Jairam Ramesh slams PM Modi over RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's remarks: Agni missile fired from Nagpur
Congress MP Jairam Ramesh on Thursday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying a recent remark by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat was critical of the prime minister.
Addressing a meeting of village workers in Jharkhand on Thursday, Mohan Bhagwat said: “Progress is never-ending… People want to become supermen, but they don't stop there. Then they want to become 'Devta' (deity), then 'Bhagwan' (God). But 'Bhagwan' says he is a 'Vishwaroop' (all-pervading). No one knows if there is anything greater than that.”
“Development is never-ending. One should think that there is always room for more. Workers should understand this. One should always strive for more,” the RSS chief said.
While Bhagwat did not make any reference to PM Modi in his speech, Jairam Ramesh claimed that the RSS chief was attacking the prime minister over the latter's remark that he was “God sent”.
“I am sure the self-proclaimed non-biological Prime Minister has got news of this latest Agni missile, fired from Nagpur from Jharkhand and targeting Lok Kalyan Marg,” Jairam Ramesh said in a message, retweeting a video of Bhagwat’s speech.
In an interview to a news channel during the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Modi reportedly said that he was “not biological but sent by God”.
“Till my mother was alive, I thought I was born biologically. After her death, when I look back at my experiences, I am convinced that I was sent by God. This strength does not come from my body. It was given to me by God. That is why God has also given me the ability, the strength, the purity of heart and the inspiration to do this. I am nothing but an instrument that God has sent,” Prime Minister Modi said.
