President Jokowi receives Order of Zayed award
During his state visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Wednesday, 17 July 2024, President Joko Widodo received the highest civilian honour from the Chairman of the UAE, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The handover was carried out directly by President MBZ to President Jokowi during their bilateral meeting at Qasr Al Watan.
The award was given in recognition of President Joko Widodo's efforts to strengthen close relations between the two countries and increase bilateral cooperation during his tenure.
The Order of Zayed is the highest civilian honour awarded by the PEA to world leaders and heads of state. It is reported that a number of prominent figures have received it, including Xi Jinping of China, Narendra Modi of India, Vladimir Putin of Russia and the President-elect of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.
President MBZ said that the awarding of the Order of Zayed to President Joko Widodo was a testament to the personal appreciation given to him and the invaluable efforts he has made to advance PEA-Indonesia relations. President MBZ expressed his hope that President Jokowi will always be healthy and prosperous and that the Indonesian people will become more advanced and prosperous.
President Joko Widodo expressed his gratitude to President MBZ and expressed his pride in receiving the award, which reflects the special relationship between the two countries and is named after the late Sheikh Zayed, an inspiring global figure with a legacy of enduring human values.
On another occasion, President MBZ also awarded the Order of the Union to Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
