Adiala Jail refutes reports of Imran Khan's facilities being removed

RAWALPINDI: The Adiala Jail administration on Friday refuted reports that facilities of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan were removed from the jail.

According to the Superintendent of Rawalpindi Central Jail, Imran Khan was provided with all facilities as per the jail manual.

The PTI founder was given two aides during the day, he said, adding that Imran Khan was allowed to meet his family, lawyers and hold political meetings twice a week.

A separate kitchen has been allocated to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi according to the jail superintendent.

The prison official also said that Khan also had a television in his cell.

He also has access to meetings during prison hearings.

“Every day, an English newspaper is sent to the PTI founder. To keep fit, he is provided with a place to walk and a weight machine,” he noted.

It is noteworthy here that security agencies have expanded their investigations and arrested at least six more jail staff on charges of helping Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

The detained prison staff also include three women, a sweeper, two female wardens and three CCTV surveillance officers, the sources said.

Security personnel confiscated the mobile phones of the employees who were in their possession. Female staff members were exchanging messages between Bushra Bibi and the PTI founder, sources said.

Former Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail Zafar Iqbal was recently sent home after his arrest on charges of helping former Prime Minister Imran Khan, sources said.

According to sources, Zafar Iqbal was arrested on August 13 for questioning over his assistance to Imran Khan in prison.
