A well -known market merchant makes his stand pack after 40 years of activity.

Mick Broadgate, from Madeley, Staffordshire, is a familiar face in the Penkridge market, and has become a bit of a local celebrity after having published novelty videos on social networks during the pandemic, dressed in a range of costumes from Mme Doubtfire to Boris Johnson.

He has been exchanging there twice a week for four decades and will retire on Saturday.

“It's going to be sad, but it's going to be a new chapter for me, so I'm looking forward to this,” he said.

“It was a really difficult decision, my wife has asked me for a while, she said,” You have to do it, we will not have time together. “”

“I'm going to miss the jokes with other traders, we had so much fun over the years.”
