Retter, Williams and Livingston lead the way for Villanova on the second day of the Knights Invitational
ORLANDO, Fla.Fifth-year pitchers Adriatic Savior (Quakertown, PA) And Jordan Williams (Fresno, California) continued to influence Villanova's all-time performance lists in the throwing events while a fifth-year sprinter Jane Livingston (Lancaster, Pennsylvania) started its outdoor season in strong fashion as the Knights Invitation concluded Saturday afternoon at the UCF Track and Field Complex. Six athletes competed for the Wildcats in Orlando, while additional members of the team competed locally in the Penn Challenge.
A day after landing on the program's all-time top 10 list in the hammer, Retter and Williams were back at it Saturday morning in the discus and shot put, respectively. Retter counted the 10e-the longest throw in school history in the discus with a mark of 49.44 meters, which placed her third overall on the Villanova performance list in the event. Williams, who already ranked ninth overall in school history in the shot put, put himself seventh on the all-time outdoor list with a throw of 13.33 meters.
Livingston placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.66 and was followed by freshman collegian Ajanae Thompson (Rahway, NJ) who placed seventh in 14.01 in her first collegiate 100 hurdles race. Another sprint event was on the Saturday schedule in Florida and fifth-year runner Madison Martinez (Gahanna, Ohio) recorded a time of 56.31 in the 400 meters.
First-year high jumper Malaika Cunningham (St Andrew, Jamaica)who had a strong indoor season, finished fourth in her first collegiate outdoor meet after raising the bar at 1.68 meters.
