Aggies close out game at Mossy Oak Collegiate
WEST POINT, ma'am. On Tuesday afternoon, the NM State men's golf team completed its final tournament before next week's Conference USA Championship. In their final regular season outing, the Aggies finished 14the while posting a combined score of 891 (+27) at the Mossy Oak Golf Course.
Auburn, ranked No. 2 in the country, once again showed why it hopes to end the year with a national championship as it finished first in the team leaderboard and 34 shots ahead of the other 13 competing programs. The individual standings were also dominated by the Tigers, as the first five spots were occupied by Auburn players, including tournament co-champions Brendan Valdes (-12) and J.M. Butler (-12).
Through the first two rounds, NM State was led by Anthony Lara (71-71-76-218) who finished the 54-hole event two over par and tied for 30 pointse place. Javier Delgadillo (+5) also finished in the top 50 of the 84-man field, posting a 75 in the final round. River Smalley (+9) finished in a shared 62NL, Vari Mariscal (+15) finished in a shared 77e And Alvaro Morales (+17) ended at 80e.

NM State will now gather as they prepare for the CUSA Championship that begins on Tuesday, April 23 and will be played at Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark. There, the Aggies will be joined by Florida International, Jax State, Liberty, LA Tech, Middle Tennessee, Sam Houston, UTEP and Western Kentucky, with the champion crowned Wednesday after 54 holes of play.
