Women's Tennis Aran Teixid Garcia, Kenna Erickson Earn SEC Postseason Honors – LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. The LSU women's tennis team had two players earn conference honors during the 2024 SEC women's tennis postseason awards announced Wednesday. Aran Teixid Garcia earned Second Team All-SEC honors and Kenna Erickson was named to the All-Freshman team.

Teixid Garcia, a graduate student from Lledia, Spain, has led the Tigers from the front this season. In singles, her 11-8 record at No. 1-3 singles was her second on the team in dual season wins. Her strongest came against then-No. 26 Carolina Gomez of Arkansas, just a few weeks ago, where she won 6-3, 6-4 for the highest-ranked victory of her collegiate career.

In doubles, Teixid Garcia led the team with twelve wins against two different partners this spring. The Tiger has taken the doubles point 15 times this season, with Teixid Garcia scoring doubles wins in 10 of those 15 doubles points. Her partnership with Florentine Dekkers was the most successful for the team in the dual season, with the pair achieving 11 wins in second place.

It is the second postseason conference honor for Teixid Garcia in her career, with the Spaniard earning a spot on the All-AAC team in 2022 while playing for Memphis.

Erickson only joined the LSU women's tennis team in January, but has since settled in Baton Rouge and has been a key player in the team's success this season. She amassed a 10-8 singles record playing primarily at No. 6 this spring and has 10 wins in doubles with two different partners.

The Tigers have six wins in conference play this season, with Erickson one of two players on the team to score a singles and/or doubles victory in all six SEC team victories. Her five singles victories in SEC play were the most on the team this season. The biggest came in March, when the Tigers defeated then-No. 14 South Carolina by a score of 4-2 at the LSU Tennis Complex. Erickson won the match for the Tigers after eliminating Olympe Lancelot in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, on court No. 6, giving LSU its first Top 25 win since 2021.

In doubles, Erickson finished the season in strong form with partner Anita Sahdiieva. The duo has won four of their last six matches at No. 1 doubles, with all four wins coming against ranked foes. They are currently ranked number 46 in the latest ITA doubles rankings.

It's the first time LSU has had a member of the SEC All-Freshman team since 2018, when Eden Richardson was voted to the team.
