The Corea Image Communication Institute (CICI) announced the winners of the 2025 Korea Image Awards on Monday.
Founded in 2003, CICI is an organization affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that promotes Korean culture abroad and conducts research on Korea's international image.
The annual Korea Image Awards recognize individuals or organizations in various fields, such as diplomacy, economics, society, culture and journalism, for their contributions to raising Korea's image on the world stage. The awards ceremony for the 21st edition will take place on January 15 next year.

The Korea Image Stepping Stone Award is presented to fencer Oh Sang-uk, the first Korean to win a gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
This achievement has raised Korea's image internationally, the CICI said in a press release. He has proven the potential of Korean fencing to the world.
Chef Edward Lee, the runner-up of Netflix's recent hit Culinary Class Wars, wins the Korea Image Stepping Stone Bridge Award.
The show's creative use of local ingredients helped promote Korean food to the world, the CICI said, becoming the springboard to introducing the warmth and depth of Korean culture.

Finally, the Korea Image Flowerstone Award goes to 20-year-old table tennis prodigy Shin Yu-bin, who won two bronze medals at the Olympic Games this year.
The CICI praised Shin's impact on Korean table tennis, as well as her popularity among the public. The athlete was nicknamed Ppiyaki, a Korean onomatopoeia of a baby bird whistling, similar to the sounds she makes in competitions.
This edition of the awards includes a Special Homage category, which honors all translators of Korean literature. The CICI described them as communicating artists who convey Korea's ideas and sensibilities to international audiences, after author Han Kang won the Nobel Prize.
Previous winners of the Korea Image Awards include Hyundai Motors Genesis, actor Lee Jung-jae, figure skating champion Kim Yuna, soprano Sumi Jo and pianist Cho Seong-jin.
