Uniting communities through cricket – Around Ealing
Sporty school students from the community are invited to register and take part in a free cricket coaching program starting in the new year.
The 10-week program is open to boys and girls aged 11 to 16 who attend a public school in the community. All levels are encouraged to register and participate.
The course is run by the MCC Foundation (MCCF), a cricket charity, and is held in Featherstone Sports Centreat Montague Waye, Southall.
That will be necessary to register for a trial session, which will take place on January 21, 2025. There is a choice of 2 sessions: under 14 and under 16 years. The program starts next week and runs until April 1.

Tanuj Danee, one of the MCCF coaches, said: Come test drive with us. Everyone is welcome. If you don't try, you won't find out if this is a sport you will thrive in.
This is a wonderful opportunity for children and families in the community to participate. We provide free coaching and match play to enable all boys and girls to reach their full potential in the game, to unite and inspire communities, and to promote physical and mental wellbeing.
The sports centre, which is owned by Ealing Council, is also home to a range of other community interests, including a climbing wall, holiday activity programmes, fitness classes and more.
Councilor Blerina Hashani, Cabinet Member for Thriving Communities, said: Team sports such as cricket are a great way to bring communities together, especially young people. This is a great opportunity to meet new friends, grow in confidence, connect with others and a fun way to stay active.
After the coaching program has been completed, there is the opportunity to compete against other teams in the capital who have also just completed the same training. The finals will be played at the world-famous Lords cricket ground, the spiritual home of the Middlesex and England cricket teams.
