Former England spinner Alex Hartley has revealed she has been dropped by the current England women's cricket team after criticizing their fitness levels.

England are in the middle of an Ashes horror series against Australia, with some players in no mood to speak to BBC analyst Hartley after the 31-year-old's controversial comments in October.

Hartley said some members of the squad let their team down in terms of their fitness.

It clearly struck a nerve as Hartley revealed England star Sophie Ecclestone refused an interview with her before Australia's victory in Monday's first T20.

However, Ecclestone is not the only player Hartley has rejected.

The reason I said they weren't as fit as Australia is because I want them to compete with Australia, I want them to be better than Australia, and I want them to win Ashes and World Cups.

It's my job to say if I see something that needs to be improved, and I have done that, but I think the way I've been treated since then is completely unfair.

England and Australia resume the women's Ashes series on Thursday with a second T20 match in what is essentially a dead rubber, although the visitors will be desperate to avoid a clean sweep.
