Katie Mack says goodbye to Cricket Act and the meteors after 12 years
After 12 incredible years, Meteoren captain Katie Mack has announced that she will complete her time with Cricket Act. A cornerstone of the Meteors team, Katie is an excellent leader, mentor and performer and has a lasting impact on the team behind and outside the field.
Since he came to the meteors, Katie has been one of the most consistent teams and played a crucial role in the sides continuous growth and success. In her time with the team she played 121 games for Cricket Act, including 94 in the WNCL and 22 in the Australian Womens T20 competition. Her influence has gone beyond its performances on the field, which forms the culture and development of the team for future generations.
Thinking about her journey, Katie acknowledged the influence of former teammates who have formed her early career. “I really appreciate it when I came here for the first time to play with Kris Britt. She played an international cricket and was such an experienced player and I think she taught me a lot. Just a bit the way to perform my game and I really appreciated her like a mentor in my early years.”
Kations performance is mentioned in the ACT Womens Team of the Century and the highest run scorer in the history of ACT ladies. She has collected 3,698 runs on an average of 33.93, including five centuries and 26 half centuries. Her highest score was an unbeaten 140 against Victoria in the 2023/24 season. She also took 46 catches and showed her all -round contribution to the team.
Over the years she has witnessed and has contributed to the evolution of the women's game. “I mean, the girls, in terms of skill, have just taken a long way in terms of athletics, and even their dedication to the game has been a big change from when I first started.”
