Young Talent comes to Schools Table Tennis Series – Sports
The Namibia Table Tennis Association (NTTA) says that the Arysteq Asset Management and Simonis Storm Schools Series has proved to be a successful way to identify and cherish talent.
An exciting second tournament in the series took place during the weekend in the Wanderers Sports Hall in Windhoek.
Now in the third consecutive year, this exciting series continues to grow, thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, the NTTA says.
Although some schools were unable to participate, the turnout showed the dedication and enthusiasm of young table tennis players.
This year's event attracted 48 players, with 30 Junior men and 18 Junior women who participated in five singles categories from U11 to U19.
Caden Bosman from Deutsche's Privatschule Windhoek (DHPS) offered one of the tournament height points while dominating in the U19 Junior Men's category.
He defeated Kamrouz Ghayouri (St Pauls College) 2-0 to claim his second consecutive victory of the series.
Likewise, schoolmate Lian Bauer delivered a flawless performance and defeated Cadans Farmer in straight sets to secure her second victory of the season in the U19 Junior Women section. Gebauer showed enormous determination as she defended her 2023 and 2024 titles.
Farmer turned the tables on Gebauer and defeated her in straight sets to claim U17 Junior Women Honors. She also triumphed the U15 Junior Women category and defeated Suverasanje Ikorua (Concordia College) in straight sets.
For her part, Ikorua made an impression on everyone and various by eliminating the current national team players on the way to the final, which underlines her potential for the national team.
In the U15 and U17 Junior Men's Categories Kamrouz Ghayouri and Agape Chicalu, both by St. Paul's College, went against each other in two moving finals. Ghayouri came to overcome in both categories and presented his exceptional talent in just 14 years old.
In particular, all finalists and semi -finalists in the U17 and U19 categories that are played in higher age groups, which underlines their exceptional development and skill levels, says the NTTA.
The U13 Junior Men Honors went to Fillemon Ikanda from Olof Palme Primary School and secured the title by beating his schoolmate Nataneal Delai in straight sets.
The NTTA believes that Delais Steady Improvement and Passion for the Game make him a player to watch in future tournaments.
Another promising Olof Palme Primary School -student is Ester Nelenge, who dominated the U13 Junior Women category and defeated Sylvi Ikanda from Hillside Primary School to claim its second consecutive tournament extraction.
Nelenge achieved another victory in the U11 Junior Women section, with Sylvi Ikanda the second place and continued her rise in the ranking.
In the U11 Junior Men's category Terence Kadandara (St Pauls College) the championship claimed, with Tangi Haufiku (Olof Palme Primary School) who claimed second place.
